Hello Alpha Family!
This is the first issue of the CMAAA Newsletter for the 2008 New
Year. We hope that it finds you healthy, prospering and well
blessed. Enjoy!

Committee’s Report
The New Year kicked off in a positive direction and your Alpha
Alumnae Association has been busy. In January of 2008 the CMAAA
executive leadership saw election of new members. Officers were
elected and our new President, Patsy Lee (class of 1967), along with
her team of Committee and Sub-Committee members, have already
initiated goals for 2008. We anticipate a year filled with
excitement, revitalized energy, new blood, hopes, dreams, visions,
plans and accomplishments. So Stay in touch.
Here’s some of what we are up to: We would like to hold at least two
events annually. The first event for the year is the upcoming Spring
Fling Dinner/Dance, set for next month (April 19). Preparations are
in full swing. This event is much anticipated, is going to be a
blast and expected to be sold-out-hot! Print and prominently post
the attached flyer.

The proceeds from the July, 2007 Reunion Weekend have been well
spent. We should all be proud, as we made enough, after expenses, to
start up the outfitting of a much needed Media Center. Although the
reunion weekend started out as a reconnect, and not as a fundraiser,
the magnanimous generosity of our alumnae resulted in over twelve
thousand dollars in proceeds, after expenses. The decision was made
to purchase and donate $ 12,000 worth of computers, printers and
peripheral equipment for the start of a Media Center which was on
Alpha’s “wish list”.
These items are already in transit to Alpha as of press time. Give
yourselves a huge pat on the back! Way to support your school! After
all that Alpha has given us, it certainly feels splendid to give
back and to contribute to providing opportunities for success for
the future generations of alumnae, the upcoming strong young women
of Alpha and Jamaica.
It was suggested that our next project should be to “take on” the
Library. Several of us have observed and expressed despair over its
abysmally depleted condition. Discussion is afoot on how and what we
can do.
In order for our projected missions to be accomplished, we are in
great need of your support and help. There is much, so much yet that
needs to be done. For those living outside of Florida, please spread
the word to your family friends. Support may be in the form of word,
deed or sowing a seed. “every mickle makes a muckle”, so give what
you can; do what you can…

Individual tickets dinner/dance are $45.00 per person before
midnight, April 5th, and $50.00 thereafter. Advance table
reservations are also available. Book early!

Please support the event by selling dinner-dance and raffle tickets
to your co-workers, families and friends.
Raffle tickets: $5.00 for a book of six and $1.00 for single
tickets. 1st PRIZE: round trip tickets from Miami to Jamaica for two
(2) (Taxes not Included - Non transferable) (donated by JAMFLIPS,
Inc., Penny Lee and Leila Chen); 2nd PRIZE: a 22” HD LCD Television
(donated by Javier Daley); 3rd PRIZE: adult Mountain Bike (donated
by June Chin).
Souvenir Program: We are producing a program and are selling
"alumnae banner advertisements", which are 5" x 1-1/2" in size, for
$20.00 each. Content will include a short message (e.g., Thank You,
Alpha); Name (first, maiden, and last name); Year of graduation;
Contact information (e.g., e-mail). This would afford you and your
Alpha sisters the opportunity to reconnect. Send your information
and content details by e-mail to alphaflchapter@aol.com or
danger3320@aol.com.
Business Ads: Price listing is available for those who would like to
purchase quarter-, half- or full-page business advertisements.
Please help us to sell ads to employers, affiliated organizations,
or friends and families who are business owners. (Contracts are
available from Addy Chin-- alphaflchapter@aol.com).
Networking Table: As an additional perk, we are having a
"networking" table at the dinner-dance for attending Alpha alumnae
to display their business cards. Bring your cards in person, in a
tasteful, standard-sized standing holder for display.
